Initial situation
Hermes Softlab searched for a new property which would offer a great place to work with some inspiring spaces.
The old building:
- was in a non-attractive area in Sarajevo
- had inefficient use of space with closed offices
- was equipped with very old furniture
Objectives identified
The idea was to propose a creative workplace in collaboration with the German company Quickborner in several steps:
- find the right building in a new business area
- completely renovate two floors of the building
- provide a big open space with a limited number of closed offices
- choose the matching furniture products
- provide an inspiring colour concept
- provide informal areas for working and relaxing

Planning & space planning
In collaboration with Quickborner the space planning layout was done. The customer visited the Steelcase WorkLife in Rosenheim (Germany) to better understand Steelcase concepts and to be inspired by the products.
Tenaro desk was selected for all employees, Frontier panels to provide privacy, Melamine storage, Melamine pedestals and B Free Lounge for the informal areas. All meeting rooms were equipped with FlipTop tables.
Results
The open space provides a good level of team communication and Frontier panels add individual privacy. In some spaces Melamine cupboards play the role of space separation. Informal communication between people has increased due to different solutions with B Free Lounge. Meeting rooms can now be used flexibly thanks to FlipTop tables.
Steelcase has been selected also for projects in Austria and Ireland.
