Green Power Leadership Award
Steelcase Inc. received a 2009 Green Power Leadership Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The annual awards recognize the country’s leading green power purchasers for their commitment and contribution to helping advance the development of the nation’s voluntary green power market.
OHSAS 18001
The first Steelcase European plant in Wisches (eastern France) got the OHSAS 18001 certification (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series). Wisches was already certified with ISO 9001 certification for quality and with ISO 14001 for environment.
World Forum Lille
André Malsch, in charge of sustainable development initiatives of Steelcase, will attend as a speaker the World Forum Lille. The Lille Forum is an international event that aims to promote a more responsible world economy in an innovative and large scale.
Wege Wind Farm
Steelcase becomes first renewable energy credit buyer to sponsor commercial-scale wind farm. Steelcase’s purchase represents a significant milestone in the wind power industry and demonstrates a potent new way for companies to accelerate the growth of renewables and bring more renewable energy online in the future.
CREER
June 2008 - CREER is a multi-sectorial cluster composed of industrial companies, developing a non-competitive research in eco-design and recycling. It allows Steelcase to meet the demands of tomorrow’s environmental challenges.
MAGEC Conference
8th October 2007 - Hélène Babok-Haeussler, Director of European Internal Communication and Sustainable Development Programs for Steelcase, spoke at the Museums and Galleries, Energy and Carbon (MAGEC) Forum. The speech showcased several examples of Steelcase’s long-term approach to sustainability.
PEFC
February 2007 - Steelcase has been recognised for its environmentally friendly practices with an official endorsement of its forest protection policy. The certification acknowledges that Steelcase has gone to great lengths to ensure that the wood used in its products has been sourced from environmentally friendly suppliers.
