Corporate climate responsibility leader in “home and office furnishings industry”

Steelcase was ranked first in “home and office furnishings” industry for combating climate change by Climate Counts, a New Hampshire based non-profit organisation dedicated to fighting global warming.

Climate Counts uses a 0-to-100 point scale and 22 separate criteria to score and rank companies to determine how their corporate climate responsibility compares to sector competitors. The scorecard measures a company’s efforts to assess their own climate footprint, reduce their emissions, support (or block) progress on major climate legislation, and publicly disclose their actions clearly to consumers.


French plant earns OHSAS 18001 certificate

Steelcase Sarrebourg plant (eastern France) has achieved OHSAS 18001 certification (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series). Sarrebourg was already ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environment) certified and is the second of our European plants being certified OHSAS 18001.

OHSAS 18000 is an international occupational health and safety management system specification. The OHSAS specification provides requirements for an occupational health and safety management system. It enables an organization to control its OH&S risks and improve its performance.


Nomination for the ALM Ecology Trophy

Steelcase Morocco was nominated on May 2010 by the ALM Ecology Trophy, organized by the Moroccan daily "Aujourd'hui le Maroc (ALM)". This trophy rewards innovative actions in favor of environmental protection: Environmental management, eco-product, sustainability & environmental initiative, waste management.

For this competition Steelcase presented its eco-design policy illustrated by the Think chair. We were selected with the three other companies on the environmental management category, and got a certificate by the jury for our 1st participation.


Green Achievement Award by IFDA

Steelcase received the Green Achievement Award from the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA). The award was received during the IFDA annual Circle of Excellence Awards, hosted by its New York chapter. The awards program recognizes individual talent, corporate initiative and significant accomplishments within the design and furnishings community.
